I always needed a bit of webspace where I could upload and show a few images of my experiments with different hardware.

All of them running RISC OS!!!

Therefore, I have created this page to demonstrate my "creations". Many of the projects shown are experimental, created just for my amusement or use, but some have made it into small scale production.

As this is really just a hobby, much of the work (including concept, design and manufacture), is provided for the benefit of others, free of charge.

Where particular projects require items, such as parts, which are costly, these costs are passed on to the recipients. It seems only fair! :-)

I'm happy to accept donations, if you feel so inclined, but all I can promise is that I will keep experiementing and tinkering. I can't promise to deliver or produce anything specific, but I'll keep trying!

If you really do want to make a donation, I would be grateful if you could make it at least 1 euro. After all, I have to pay the fees on any donation!

If you have made a donation, and are interested in buying particular hardware, then please contact me. If possible, we can work out a deal, mainly to cover the cost of any parts I have to buy.

Be aware: This is my hobby and I cannot give a specific delivery time or a swift turnaround. And there is a limited warranty!

I will only accept the payment for the goods after it has been received by you and you are happy with the item, unless it is a particularly large request! ;-)

Here are a couple of projects that did well...

Award.jpg

RISC OS Awards 2011: Best Hardware = ARMINI = BIK (BeaglexM in Kiste)

RISC OS Awards 2012/2013: Best Hardware = ARMiniX = PIK (Panda in Kiste)

RISC OS Award 2014: Best new development = ARMX6 = WBKs (i.MX6 Kiste)

Here are a few of my other projects, in no particular order:

1. IGEPv5

IgepV5_front.JPGIgepV5_Po.JPGIgepV5_innen.JPGIGEPv5_HD.JPGIgepV5_plugin.JPG Omap5_debug2.jpg Omap5_debug1.jpg

The RISC OS port to the IGEPv5 is unfortunately still slightly unstable, although my case design is ready to go. As support for SATA is, as yet, unifinshed, an mSATA drive can be connected and used via a USB adaptor.

Edit: The latest ROM is much more stable. There are very few crashes when running. SATA support is still not available, but is well underway.

2. WBK = i.MX6

Here are a few images taken during the prototyping process. Keep an eye out for further developments...

3. Brotkiste

draufsicht.jpg Innen1.jpg Innen2.jpg rueckseite.jpg

This was originally planned to be released as a Raspberry Pi-based "ARMIcro" but was later cancelled. This was in part due to the prohibitively high cost of the materials used (upwards of 100 euro).

One of the three protoypes shown can be seen here on Mike's page.

4. Obstkiste = The Fruity Case

Obst_vorn.JPG Obst_Po.JPG Obst_hinten_iso.JPG

My design for a Raspberry Pi in a case (one of them).

5. HandPi

HandPi.jpg HandPi_1.jpg

My personal project - just for fun! This currently runs Linux only, but RISC OS support is in development. To be continued...

6. PapPi

PappPi_zus.jpg PappPi_vo_i.jpg PappPi_vo_Bl.jpg PappPi_Ta_vor.jpg PappPi_RISCOS.jpg PappPi_isom.jpg PappPi_innen.jpg

This is a fun project, inspired by my wife, whilst we were eating pizza! At the same, it provides a useful prototype for a 3D printed laptop design. To be continued...

7. SchlepPi

SchlepPi_vorn.jpg

My version of a LapDock attachement. To date, I have made more than ten of these. If you are interested, let me know - I could make more! For a better view, please have a look at SchlepPi.html.

8. A4xM

Display_iB.JPGDisplay_oF.JPGInnen.JPGSeite.JPGAccu_repl.jpgTastatur.JPG

After my original A4 went up in smoke, beyond repair, I converted it to house a BeaglexM board as its base. I have since created a newer version with a larger display. Images of this will follow.

9. The "very first" one

ersteVers.JPGInnen.jpgRueck.jpg

This is my first design of recent times - the case I modified to house my first ever Beagleboard!

 10. BeagleBook

vorn_neu.jpgrueck_neu.jpggehause3d.jpg

This is another personal, fun project, but it's currently "on hold". as there are no drivers for RISC OS and manufacturing costs are prohibitive. I may try again later!

11. BeagleTV

Bgl_TV_v.JPGBgl_TV_r.JPGBBBat.JPG

My home office Media Player...

12. Chipsee

Front.JPGBetrieb1.JPGBetrieb2.JPGRueck.JPG

The display originally used in the A4xM. Now removed, and used more as a plaything.

13. Pre-BIK

komplett.jpgvorn.jpgInnen.jpghinten.jpg

A pre-production model housing a BeagleBoard, this design later became the basis for the BIK / ARMINI and PIK / ARMiniX.

14: ThinkPi

ThinkPi_1.jpgThinkPi_2.jpgThinkPi_3.jpgThinkPi_4.jpg

Operational "prototype". This is a Raspberry Pi housed in an old ThinkPad. A great idea, but takes a lot of time and effort to produce.

15. PiRouter

PiRouter.JPG

An attempt to use a 3G modem with several RISC OS computers simultaneously. Very difficult and fiddly to configure, but it is possible.

16. PiLeather

PiLeder.jpg

This is a Raspberry Pi housed in a "tablet case" with an attached USB keyboard. This is my first attempt, but I will keep developing this idea. Newer pictures will follow.

I will upload more pictues in future. There are more projects in the pipeline, and I will add the pictures in due course.
